Community Notice: Roblin Park Community Centre Annual General Meeting - April 24

Roblin Park Community Centre will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at 640 Pepperloaf Crescent.

The 2018/19 year is going to be a big one for our community centre as we celebrate our club’s 70th anniversary as well as the 70th edition of the Winter Carnival! With that in mind, we’re going to be looking for big support from community members to step up for board positions so we can go into the new season with a full and strong board and volunteers ready to help out!

At the AGM, we will be electing a new board of directors. As per the RPCC constitution, the existing board members must vacate their positions and stand for re-election if desired.

Board positions include: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Facilities and Operations, Program Coordinator, Community Relations Coordinator, Sports Convenor and Children’s Program parent reps (3). For more information on roles and responsibilities, see our executive page.

At the AGM we will also be voting on two amendments to the constitution.

Article 3.8 To provide delegates to and support the programs and policies of the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres and the City of Winnipeg.

Article 3.8 To provide delegates to and support the programs and policies of the Community Centre Board, the General Council of Winnipeg Community Centres and the City of Winnipeg.

Our key objective should be to support the programs of the community centre board as well as the GCWCC.

Article 11 - Terms of office
Addition of Article 11.2
11.2 Community Members residing outside the Centre's boundaries, with the approval of the Board of Directors, are eligible to run for board positions. If elected, would have voting privileges at regular board meetings. Voting privileges are not extended to the AGM.  These positions would be held for the current term, and as with all Director positions be vacated at the AGM.

Volunteers are the engine of any community centre. The Roblin Park Community Centre board has always recognized that we should never turn away qualified volunteers who want to make a contribution to our centre and as such should be considered for board positions even if they reside outside of the catchment. This has been a long-standing policy.
The board also recognizes that our constitution states that we shall be specifically concerned with meeting the needs of the members living within the catchment. As such, it is the position of the board that the members within catchment should have the sole right to decide who represents their interests on the board of RPCC.

We hope you will take the time on April 24 to join us at our Annual General Meeting! Please consider joining our board of directors. Following the formal proceedings free food and beverages will be served!
